Introduction

Welcome to useLadle ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our meal planning application (the "App").

Information We Collect

Most of your data stays entirely on your device. The limited information we collect is described below.

App data stored locally on your device:

• Meal plans and recipes
• Shopping lists
• Pantry staples
• Saved templates
• App preferences (theme, favorites)

This data is stored locally on your device using browser local storage. Pro subscribers may optionally enable sync, which transmits this data to secure cloud storage.

Information we collect when you use certain features:

• Email address — collected when you start a free trial, set up cloud sync, or purchase a Pro subscription. Used to authenticate your account, enable cross-device sync, and send you product updates and occasional promotional offers. You may opt out of marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email.
• Usage data — anonymized analytics (such as which features are used and how often) collected via PostHog to help us improve the App. This does not include any recipe content, meal plan data, or personally identifiable information.

Data Storage

Your data is stored using browser local storage technology. This means:

• Data remains on your device only by default
• Data persists between sessions until you clear it
• Clearing your browser data will delete your App data
• We cannot access, view, or recover your data

By default, all data is stored locally on your device. Pro subscribers may optionally enable cross-device sync, which securely transmits your meal plans and recipes to cloud storage. Sync is opt-in and can be disabled at any time.

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted third-party services:

• Supabase — used for authentication and cloud sync. Your email address and any synced app data are stored securely with Supabase.
• Stripe — used to process subscription payments. We do not store your payment details; they are handled entirely by Stripe.
• Loops — used to send transactional and marketing emails (trial confirmation, subscription updates). Your email address is stored with Loops and used only for useLadle-related communications. You may unsubscribe at any time via any email we send.
• PostHog — used for anonymized product analytics. PostHog helps us understand how features are used so we can improve the App. No personally identifiable information or recipe content is included in analytics data.
• Sentry — used for error monitoring to detect and fix crashes. Error reports may include technical context such as the type of action being performed, but do not include recipe content, meal plans, or personally identifiable information.

We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising purposes.

Cookies and Tracking

The App uses PostHog for anonymized usage analytics, which may set cookies or use local storage to distinguish sessions. No advertising cookies or cross-site tracking are used. You can opt out of analytics tracking by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser settings.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at hello@useladle.com and we will promptly delete it.

Your Data Rights

You have complete control over your data:

• Access: All your app data is visible within the App
• Modification: You can edit any data at any time
• Deletion: Use the "Delete Account" button in Settings to permanently delete your account and all associated data from our servers. You can also use "Clear All Data" to wipe local device data only. For additional deletion requests, contact us at hello@useladle.com.
• Portability: You can export your data using the built-in export feature
• Opt-out: You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in any email we send

Security

By default, your data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted over the internet. If you enable cloud sync or create a subscription account, that data is transmitted securely to our cloud providers. In all cases, we recommend:

• Keeping your device and browser updated
• Using device-level security (passcode, biometrics)
• Being cautious when using shared or public devices

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
